When Miss Allie wanted to sing with Bruce Springsteen..
Miss Allie wanted to sing with Bruce Springsteen in Hamburg 2023 and triggered a wave of enthusiasm: radio stations, newspapers and hundreds of fans supported her plan.
Hello folks,
I tried to sing with Bruce Springsteen in Hamburg (July 15, 2023) during his 2023 European tour. I knew that this desire was megalomaniacal, but:
NU GUTS, NO GLORY!
So I produced four cover versions of Springsteen's songs, wrote emails, letters, called managements, talked to many, many people and hundreds of fans supported and shared my social media posts. As the concert drew closer, the wave of excitement grew. Radio stations and the newspaper joined in. But unfortunately, we couldn't reach Mr. Springsteen.
HOPE DIES LAST!
I went to the Bruce concert on 07/15/2023 in Hamburg and hoped that he would somehow notice me. Unfortunately, he didn't. But the concert was insanely great! I had so much fun with my father and two friends. Bruce Springsteen is 73 years old (!), but he sings and performs as if he is still the young boss. It's just unbelievable. He has my full respect.
WHAT A GREAT EVENT!
And even though I didn't manage to sing with him on stage, I had a blast doing this project. Producing the cover songs, getting creative, being excited, being supported by so many different people and institutions.... IT WAS A GREAT PROJECT!!!

"Springsteens music accompanied my way as a musician for a long time. I opened every pub concert with a Springsteen song to calm myself down and in one of my own songs ("We haven't learned much") I sing to the big singer-songwriters before my time - and Bruce is one of them. I like many Springsteen songs especially the album "The Ghost of Tom Joad". It's so calm, reduced and tells stories that matter - not least in a political way. So inspiring!"
WHY SPRINGSTEEN?
To get Springsteen's attention I produced four cover versions of Springsteen's songs in my home Bedsheet Studio.

Springsteen has lots of songs transporting the longing for more, for action, for breaking free. I just love it!
"DANCING IN THE DARK"
The Album "The Ghost of Tom Joad" is one of my favourite ones of Springsteen. It's calm and tells stories that matter.
"THE GHOST OF TOM JOAD"
Did you know? "Because the Night" was written by Bruce Springsteen AND Patti Smith! A wonderful team!
"BECAUSE THE NIGHT"
Controversial - In "I'm on fire" Springsteen sings about longing for a woman that he can't reach. If you translate the lyrics into german, the meaning of the song prompts questions. Especially the words "Little Girl" and "Daddy" give the impression that the song carries somehow a pedophilic message. From a linguistic point of view the American "Little Girl" has been used synonymically for a young woman during the 1980s. The word "Daddy" stands for "partner" or "husband".
"I'M ON FIRE"
In the end, we couldn't reach Bruce despite all our efforts. But the concert was awesome and the project was crazy fun!

This was just so much fun!
